Tahsis Salmon Enhancement Program - Volunteers in Action

These photos were taken during the 2nd week in October . Both Coho and Spring salmon were preparing to spawn, and presented a good opportunity for the volunteers to gather male and female spawners for milt and eggs.

Nets are stretched accross the river and salmon are trapped inside. Salmon that were not ready or 'ripe' would be tagged and let go, while the others would be killed and eggs and milt (sperm) would be taken back to the hatchery.
