Tahsis Salmon Enhancement Program

Each year Tahsis's Salmonoid Program release from 250,000 to 500,000 fry (80% Chinook 20% Coho) into the Tahsis and Leiner Rivers on The Tahsis Inlet. The program is 100% staffed by local volunteers with the assistance of a coordinator from Department of Fisheries and Ocean. The salmonid enhancement program also benifits from the Annual Fishing Derby, sponsored by Westview Marina and Lodge, A Community Salmon Barbeque and the help of local groups and charitable societies.

Donations go towards equipment, nets, trays, other various supplies and future projects. A deep well and temperature control system has been considered to keep salmon fry in conditions where temperature control will allow staff to speed up the growth of the small fry and ensure egg trays are kept in a sanitary controlled environment.
